DEPAUL — A DePaul University student was the victim of a Wednesday afternoon holdup on Halsted Street.

The university put out a public safety alert after a student had a cellphone taken in an armed robbery at 3 p.m. Wednesday at 2259 N. Halsted St.

According to the university and Chicago Police, the 21-year-old man was walking down the street when two men armed with a handgun walked up and demanded the phone. They took the phone and drove off in a red car, police and the university said.

Chicago Police said no one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
