Double Door Made A Playlist That Rounds Up The Best Of The Bands It Saw

By Alisa Hauser | March 2, 2017 12:07pm

WICKER PARK —  Music fans, strap on your headphones and grab a box of tissue. Wicker Park's Double Door has published a playlist featuring 365 songs by bands that played on the iconic venue's stage over the years.

"Thank you Wicker Park for 24 years! See everyone at the next location soon," the club posted on Instagram with a link to a Spotify playlist arranged by the club's booking manager Nathan Arling.

"Made in Chronological Order from 1994-2017 take a ride back to Wicker Park Chicago and enjoy some of our favorite bands that played Double Door. Thanks to all the bands, fans, staff, friends and DD family that made this all happen. We saw a million faces and rocked them all!" Arling posted on Spotify.

Over the weekend, staffers were able to finally retrieve all of their equipment and personal belongings from the building at 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave. following the club's eviction last month. Chicagoist chronicled the final afternoon in the storied — and now empty — spot.

Among the playlist gems are "Cherub Rock" by The Smashing Pumpkins, "Do you realize?" by The Flaming Lips, "I'll Be Around" by Yo La Tengo and many, many more.

Listen to all 365 songs on the playlist.

The club's co-owners Sean Mulroney and Joe Shanahan were not available for comment on where the next location will be.

When the Double Door was evicted from its longtime Wicker Park location, Mulroney and Shanahan pledged to reopen in a former bank building in Logan Square — but Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd) whose ward includes the site previously said it won't be an easy transition.

In the interim, the club has relocated many of its upcoming shows to other venues such as Subterranean, Thalia Hall, Park West, and Reggie's, according to its online calendar.
