CHICAGO — Employees of the Buffalo Wings & Rings restaurant in Bridgeport will participate in Sunday's Chicago Polar Plunge at North Avenue Beach, hoping to raise $10,000.

After last year's Polar Plunge, Buffalo Wing & Rings donated nearly $5,000. The restaurant, 3434 S. Halsted St., has had several fundraisers this year and will hold another fundraiser Saturday for UFC Fight Night.

The restaurant is in the beginning stages of forming a regular partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, according to a news release. Employees plan to donate their time to repacking bulk food into family-sized portions as well as volunteer at loading docks in the city.

In addition, during March Madness, the restaurant will raise money for the V Foundation, which is dedicated to cancer research in honor of the late college basketball coach Jim Valvano.
