NAVY PIER — Navy Pier has a bright idea: glow-in-the-dark seesaws.

Impulse, a renowned set of motion-activated seesaws with LED lights, is coming to the state's largest tourist attraction later this month. The seesaws will be in the pier's Polk Bros. Park from March 10 to May 21.

“We invite guests of all ages and backgrounds to come experience the Pier’s ongoing programmatic evolution this spring, starting with this truly unique and artistic spin on a classic playground activity," Michelle T. Boone, the pier's chief program and civic engagement officer, said in a statement.

Devised by two Canadian design firms, Impulse creates "a dynamic, ever-changing field of light and sound" to the movement of users, according to a press release. The attraction has toured cities including London, Brussels, and Scottsdale, Ariz. before arriving in Chicago.

The seesaws are free and open to the public whenever the pier is open.
