CHICAGO — The Paczki may be gone now that Lent is underway, but St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Belmont-Cragin is making sure religious observers stay well-fed during the next 40 days.
Every Friday until April 7, the church, 5900 W. Barry Ave., will convert into a full-service restaurant — complete with a drive-thru and live entertainment — for the 20th consecutive run of the St. Ferdinand Fish Fry.
For less than $10, visitors can pick up full dinners with any of five different kinds of baked or fried fish, with a side of fries, cole slaw, coffee and dessert. Clam chowder and domestic beer will also be available.
In previous years, each fish fry has attracted between 400 and 600 hungry patrons, according to the church. Anyone who wants to beat the crowd can call in an order ahead at 773-622-3022 Ext. 361.
The fish fry will be open from 4:30-7 p.m. every Friday until April 7.
