CHICAGO — A woman was raped and robbed at gunpoint while walking to her car in Lakeview early Tuesday, police said.

The attack happened shortly after midnight Tuesday in the 1200 block of West Barry Avenue, police announced in a community alert.

The woman had been walking to her car when a man with a gun walked up and robbed her of her money, police said. He then forced her into her car, where he reportedly raped her before running away.

Police described the suspect as a black man age 25-30. He is roughly 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and weighs between 150-170 pounds. Officers said the man has short black hair, a medium complexion and a short beard or scruff on his chin.

He was wearing a brown or green sleveless vest, a black button-down shirt with white markings across the bottom and dark-colored pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8261 and mention case No. JA169654.
