CHICAGO — Officials are investigating the mother of a 2-year-old boy who died last week.
On Thursday, officers were called to the 1700 block of West Juneway Terrace for a call about the boy, who was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital, police said.
Jayden Sturdivant, of the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue, was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Department of Children and Family Services was investigating Jayden's mother and her boyfriend for allegations of abuse and neglect, a spokeswoman said. The investigation was pending.
DCFS had contact with the child and his family in the past, the spokeswoman said.
