BOYSTOWN — Frost Fest is back in Boystown, and the drinks are stronger than ever.

The craft beer festival returns for the third year, with the Brisk Brews tent on North Halsted Street Saturday. This year, the fest will include a whiskey lounge from Beam Suntory, the Chicago-based maker of Jim Beam, Maker's Mark and lesser-known brands of Japanese scotch whisky and Spanish whiskey.

Brisk Brews attendees will be selected at random for the whiskey tasting, organizers said.

Also returning is the fest's free Soup Walk — with more stops than ever — which extends into Lakeview East. This year, it will take place from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and includes soups from Lark, Soup Box and 10 other neighborhood eateries.

While winter weather has been anything but frosty, colder temperatures this weekend mean Frost Fest will be making use of its heated tents at the corner of Waveland Avenue and Halsted.

Tickets for Saturday's craft beer festival are $35 for one of two tasting sessions from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tickets include 15 3-ounce tastings and a souvenir glass.

Designated driver tickets are $10.

This year's fest will feature Chicago and Illinois brewers including Empirical Brewery, All Rise Brewing, Brickstone Brewery, Wild Onion Brewery, Small Town Brewery and Goose Island.

Brewers from as far Moosehead Breweries in Toronto will be in Boystown for Saturday's event, along with Brooklyn Brewery and national brands like Sam Adams, Angry Orchard and Guinness.

On Sunday, a dozen businesses along Halsted and Broadway will serve up free soup from nearby restaurants.
