CHATHAM — A South Shore man spent Feb. 7 walking around with $4 million in his pocket.

Nathaniel Dorsey won $4 million on a $20 Illinois Lottery scratch-off ticket, stuffed the ticket in his back pocket and claimed his winnings on Feb. 7.

He said he bought two tickets and won nothing with the first one. He initially thought he won $4,000 on the second ticket — until he took a closer look.

“I went into the kitchen to look at my ticket under brighter lights, and that’s when I saw that I actually won $4 million,” Dorsey said.

He said he put the ticket in his back pocket and went off to claim his winnings.

“I was surprisingly calm, considering I was walking around with $4 million in my pocket!” Dorsey said.

Dorsey will receive $2.4 million after taxes and other withholdings.

He said he’s going to take a trip to the Bahamas or Miami and will save the rest.

“I’m going to be smart with this money and invest wisely,” Dorsey said.
