Maximiliano Arroyo, 24, Shot Dead In Avondale

CHICAGO — A shooting in Avondale killed Maximiliano Arroyo, 24, on Thursday morning, officials said.

At 5:41 a.m., the man was walking with a woman in the 4000 block of West Melrose Avenue when a gold-colored minivan drove up, police said. Two men inside the asked the victim about his gang affiliation and then one of them took out a gun and fired shots.

The victim was hit in his chest, police said. The woman was not wounded.

Arroyo, of the 4200 block of West Melrose Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:58 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man did not have any documented gang affiliation, a police source said.

The shooters drove away and no one was in custody, police said.
