CHICAGO — A shooting on Lake Shore Drive that killed Jorge Navarro Jr., 25, shut down southbound traffic between Belmont and Chicago avenues for several hours Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened at 3:45 a.m. in the 2300 block of North Lake Shore Drive, police said.
A man in his 20s was driving south in a Lexus sedan when another vehicle pulled up next to him and someone in that vehicle fired shots.
The Lexus hit a center median, and the driver was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
Navarro, of the 3300 block of South Artesian Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:37 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
A man and woman in the Lexus were not injured.
Traffic remained closed on the southbound stretch of Lake Shore between Belmont and Chicago avenues till about 7 a.m., police said. By 7:15, all lanes had been reopened.
