EDGEWATER — On Thursday, two long-time Edgewater residents will receive recognition for being the "Pride" and "Sweetheart" of the neighborhood for 2016.
Tom Skilling, chief meteorologist for WGN, and Conrad Suerth, a lifelong Far North Sider and supervisor for Streets and Sanitation in the 48th Ward, will both be honored at 9 a.m. Thursday by the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce at Uncommon Ground.
"It is people like Tom and Conrad who are passionate about their work and invested in the health of our neighborhood and City that make Edgewater one of the best neighborhoods on the North Side," the Chamber said in a written statement.

Skilling, an Emmy Award-winning TV weather forecaster, will receive the "Pride of Edgewater" award. He has lived in the community since first moving to Chicago from Milwaukee almost 40 years ago.
The beloved meteorologist has participated in community events and become known around the country for his in-depth weather reports, graphics and use of modeling.
The "Sweetheart of Edgewater" award will go to Suerth, who grew up in the neighborhood and has served in his capacity in the ward since 2002.
Suerth has "gone above and beyond the call of duty" to help keep residents' properties clean and safe, according to the Chamber.
