5 Valentine's Day Events In Uptown And Andersonville

UPTOWN AND ANDERSONVILLE — Trying to squeeze in a little romance between twp hectic schedules?

Here's five ways to celebrate Valentine's Day without leaving Uptown or Andersonville:

1. The pH Comedy Theater, 1515 W. Berwyn Ave.

The Andersonville theater will host its second annual One Billion Rising Valentine's Day Fundraiser, a variety show including a performance of its original show "Women on Top" hosted by company member Samantha Woodman. One Billion Rising is a national organization that raises money and awareness about violence toward women. The show is inspired by audience suggestions and features ensemble members telling authentic stories and having real conversations. 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available here.

2. Bar Roma, 5101 N. Clark St.

The new Andersonville restaurant specializing in meatballs and Roman cuisine will offer a special array of Valentine's Day dishes courtesy of Chef Fred Ramos, along with its regular dinner menu. Specials include: cream of white asparagus soup with caviar bruschette ($9), prime beef tenderloin carpaccio ($14), oysters on the half shell ($13), agnolotti cacio e pepe — pasta pockets with veal, onions and pancetta ($22), grilled ribeye with fried shrimp ($36) and dark chocolate cake with raspberry sauce ($9).

3. Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway

Pride Film and Plays will host a one-night-only showing of "His and His II." The cabaret show presented by Chris Pazdernik examines gay characters on Broadway and the artists who create the shows, roles and music. Tickets to the show are $20-25 and available here. Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

4. Big Jones, 5347 N. Clark St.

Valentine's Day is the final day to enjoy Big Jones' Chicago Restaurant Week special prix fixe menu, which showcases some of Chef Paul Fehribach's favorite dishes, for $33. The prix fix menu includes: starters, bread service, entrees and desserts. Starter options include: Devil Crabs, Dunstan Chestnut Tamal and Chef Huston's Cream of Peanut Soup. Entree options include: Sea Island Guinea Hen Bog, Fried Mullet, Braised Oxtail and Roasted Black Trumpet Mushrooms. Desserts include: Sea Island Benne Cake, Calas and Chocolate Chess Pie. 5-9:30 p.m.

5. Jerry's, 5419 N. Clark St.

Jerry's will offer a prix fixe menu dinner for $48 per couple Tuesday. The meal includes a champagne toast, choice of appetizer, two entrees and a shared dessert. Entrees include: fried lobster, roast beef tenderloin and fried shiitake mushroom.
