UPTOWN — A woman was shot in Uptown Saturday morning.
Around 4:45 a.m., a 29-year-old woman was seated in a car in the 1200 block of West Lawrence Avenue when someone opened fire from the street, police said.
The block is just west of Broadway Street and includes a large parking lot, where police could be seen patrolling Monday.
The woman was struck in her leg and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. She was in "stable condition," police said.
She was one of 24 people wounded in shootings over the weekend. Five people were also fatally shot over the weekend.
No one is in custody for the shooting.
