Southeast Side Armed Robberies At Businesses Prompt Police Warning

CHICAGO — Police are warning business owners near the Indiana border to be aware of suspicious persons or cars after a spell of armed robberies in January.

The incidents occurred on the following dates and blocks:

• On Jan. 10: in the 10100 block of South Ewing Avenue

• On Jan. 24: in the 10500 block of South Avenue M

• On Jan. 31: in the 3800 block of East 106th Place

The robber is described as a black or Hispanic man standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing between 120 and 160 pounds, police said.

Officers also warned business owners to be alert of their surroundings and have a surveillance system on the interior and exterior of the business.
