JEFFERSON PARK — In the face of heightened interest in a hot-button subject, 45th Ward Ald. John Arena has sought a larger venue for his first public meeting to discuss a proposal for mixed-income housing in Jefferson Park.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Branch Community Church, 6125 W. Foster Ave., Arena said. It had been scheduled to take place at the Jefferson Park District police station, 5151 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Attendees will discuss a proposal by developer Full Circle Communities to build 100 apartment units at the former site of FSP, 5150 N. Northwest Hwy. Since the plan was introduced last month, it's a sharp backlash against it has developed among many area residents.

Attendees will be asked at the door to show proof that they live in the boundaries of the 45th Ward, according to Owen Brugh, Arena's chief of staff.

"The proposed building is centrally located in the 45th Ward, and we want to make sure 45th Ward residents have the opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions," Brugh wrote in an email.
