UPTOWN — Chicago Lakeshore Hospital has chosen two North Side organizations to be part of its annual Partners in Excellence program.

Recipients are given grants and embody the missions of the hospital: mental health, community, trauma, risk and vulnerability. Past recipients have included LGBTQ organizations, women's trauma groups, suicide prevention agencies and programs for the homeless, according to the hospital.

The 2016 recipients are Sarah's Circle in Uptown, Care for Real in Edgewater and Elyssa's Mission in suburban Northbrook, the hospital said.

Sarah's Circle, a non-profit dedicated to women experiencing homelessness or in need of a safe place, received a $2,500 grant, said Maureen Maloney, director of marketing and business development.

Care For Real, 5339 N. Sheridan Road, is a community-based organization offering food, clothing, employment resources and a pet pantry for those in need. It received a $3,000 grant, she said.

Elyssa's Mission is a school-based teen suicide prevention program. It received a $2,500 grant, she said.

Chicago Lakeshore Hospital, 4840 N. Marine Drive, is a behavioral health hospital serving psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
