LINCOLN PARK — The local neighborhood high school is working to keep Lincoln Park students in Lincoln Park.

Lincoln Park High School, 2001 N. Orchard Ave., holds what it's touting as a Middle School Mixer at 7 p.m. Friday in the Freshman Building.

Pizza will be served and a disc jockey will play music. It's projected to run until 8:30 p.m.

It's targeting "students at other neighborhood public and private schools," as well as their parents.

"This is an opportunity for students at all the elementary schools in the neighborhood to come to the high school and see all the great things that are happening," said Amy Zemnick, chairwoman of what's being called the #1school1community initiative.

"We are really working to build up Lincoln Park High School to be the cornerstone of the community, and we want the neighborhood to start really getting behind the high school."

It's free and open to all seventh- and eighth-graders with a parent or guardian, although interested students and parents are asked to RSVP at 1school1communitylphs@gmail.com.
