CHICAGO — Grand Crossing has been hit by eight robberies — some of them involving firearms — this month, police said.
During four of the robberies, the robber or robbers walked up to a victim, announced a robbery and showed the victim a gun or implied they have a gun, according to a Chicago Police community alert.
Those robberies occurred:
• 8:05 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 7400 block of South Wabash Avenue
• 12:05 a.m. Jan. 11 in the 7100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue
• 8:47 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 7100 block of South Eberhart Avenue
• 1:20 p.m. Jan. 23 in the 700 block of East 74th Street
The robbers were described as one to three black men who were 18 to 23 years old, 5-foot-5 to 6-foot-2 and 170 to 180 pounds, police said.
During the other four robberies, a man or group of men walked up to victims and said they were robbing them, police said. One of the robbers held a glass bottle during one robbery.
Those robberies occurred:
• 10 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 6300 block of South King Drive
• 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the 6300 block of South King Drive
• 6:25 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 6500 block of South King Drive
• 2:50 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 6300 block of South Evans Avenue
The robbers were described as one to four black teens or men who were 17 to 20 years old, 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 and weighed 170-180 pounds, police said.
