CHICAGO — Rapper Chief Keef has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a music producer, according to reports.

The rapper, whose name is Keith Cozart, is a South Side native. Police said he had been arrested in connection to a robbery in Los Angeles, where Cozart has lived for several years, according to NBC5.

Former Cozart producer Ramsay Tha Great posted videos on Instagram where he accused Cozart and other men of robbing him at gunpoint.

The robbers were armed with an AK-47 and hit the producer, he said.

Ramsay Tha Great chose to contact police instead of retaliating because he wanted to set an example for young black men and because he "think[s] black lives matter," he said in one video.

But the producer received backlash from fans of Cozart.

"Now that he's locked up — because he chose to make that stupid decision to come to my house and do that — I'm the bad guy? For putting him in jail?" the producer said. In another video he said, "I'm a young black man from Chicago who decided to stop the cycle."

Cozart has faced legal problems in Chicago, battling weapons charges and a paternity suit, among other things.
