NORTH LAWNDALE — Two high school students returning home from school Wednesday were attacked and robbed on a Pink Line train, police said.

About 2 p.m., the young men, ages 17 and 18, were on a CTA train traveling westbound when they were approached by five unknown men who battered the 18-year-old and demanded his belongings, police said.

The students left the train at the Pulaski stop in North Lawndale, and the men then attacked the 17-year-old and demanded his belongings, police said.

The attackers then left the train platform.

Latrena Wrencher, mother of one of the students, told ABC7 that the honor roll students were coming home from school after finishing their exams. She said at least 15 others on the train watched and did nothing.

"They took their shoes, their phones ... wallets, money and his classmate's coat," Wrencher told ABC7.

Both victims refused medical attention, police said.
