Chicago Lawn Robberies Prompt Warning From Police

CHICAGO LAWN — There has been a rash of armed robberies at businesses in the neighborhood, according to Chicago Lawn detectives.

Police said the crimes took place:

• At 3:10 p.m. Jan. 11. in the 3700 block of West 79th Street

• At 6:26 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 7000 block of South Pulaski Avenue

• At 4:51 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 3300 block of West 79th Street

Police describe the robbers as two black men between ages 20-25, between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-2, weighing between 140 and 190 pounds.

Here’s what Chicago Police say you can do to keep your homes and property safe:

• Keep your property well lit.

• Report all suspicious activity.

• Keep doors and windows secured.

• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.

• If video surveillance is available, make a copy of the footage of the crime for detectives.

• If your home is burglarized, do not touch anything. Call police instead.

• If you find witnesses, request their contact information for detectives.
