2 Northwest Side Businesses Robbed At Gunpoint In 2 Days, Police Say

PORTAGE PARK — Two Far Northwest Side businesses were robbed at gunpoint between Sunday evening and Monday evening, police said.

In both incidents, a man walked into a business, held out a gun and demanded money, according to a community alert sent Tuesday.

The first robbery occurred at 6:20 p.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of West Addison Street, police said. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans with black gloves.

The second incident was reported at 7:40 p.m. Monday in the 5200 block of North Northwest Highway in Jefferson Park. Police described the suspect in that robbery as a black man in his mid-20s, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 220 pounds. He was wearing a black and blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said.
