MOUNT GREENWOOD — Saint Xavier University will host a discussion about the use of medical marijuana at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 on its main campus at 3700 W. 103rd St. in Mount Greenwood.
Dr. Judith A. Paice is the director of a cancer pain program and a research professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She will lead the discussion that focuses on how medical marijuana is used to ease pain, nausea and loss of appetite associated with cancer and HIV/AIDS.
It costs $20 to attend the presentation in the university's Warde Academic Center, and registration is required by Friday, Feb. 3.
Saint Xavier's School of Nursing presents the discussion that also includes appetizers and beverages. A cash bar will be available, and continuing education credits will be awarded to those interested.
Dr. Paice is a member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and has served as president of the American Pain Society. Her lecture will touch on the misconceptions around medical marijuana as well as the cost, usage, history and benefits of the drug.
