The thieves break either a window or a door lock to get at tools stored inside the vehicles, police said. The break-ins occurred:

• Between Jan. 7-8 in the 10400 block of South Hamilton Avenue in Beverly.

• Between Jan. 9-10 in the 400 block of West 101st Street in Washington Heights.

• Between Jan. 17-18 in the 10400 block of South Troy Street in Mount Greenwood.
