JEFFERSON PARK — Eden United Church of Christ, 5051 W. Gunnison St., will host a "facilitated dialog" Tuesday on how to move forward and build relationships in the wake of the 2016 election, church leaders announced.

The event, titled “Talking Politics: Moving Forward Post Election,” is designed to help participants connect over issues of national importance instead of talking past one another, said David Angel, a conflict resolution consultant who will lead the activity.

"The structure works well because it slows the conversation down, and participants don’t have to worry about being in a debate, or trying to change other people’s minds," Angel said. "Instead, the dialog focuses on what happened, why it matters, and areas of uncertainty that participants might have."

The event is part of Eden Church's "Eden Open: A Space to Grow" program, which offers different lectures and events every Tuesday.

A "light dinner" will be served at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and the discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. Participants should RSVP by posting on the event's Facebook page or emailing Angel at david@davidwangel.com.
