Hawk Harrelson Talking Clock Giveaway at Sox Park? Mercy!

By Ed Komenda | January 17, 2017 2:19pm | Updated on January 24, 2017 11:28am

BRIDGEPORT — Don't stop now boys....(and girls): It's time to get up.

As part of its promotional giveaways this year, the White Sox are offering up what the team is calling a "Ken 'Hawk' Harrelson talking alarm clock."

The first 20,000 fans attending the Saturday, May 13 game at the South Side ballpark, now Guaranteed Rate Field, will get one.

The team says the clock, "presented by TOTAL Lubricants," will allow fans to "wake up to the voice of the White Sox play-by-play announcer and five-time Emmy award winner." Harrelson has been in the Sox broadcasting booth for 33 years.

The Brewers last year had a similar promotion in Milwaukee, giving away a talking alarm clock featuring the voice of their announcer Bob Uecker.

The wake up call? "Get, up, get up, get out of bed!" — a play on Uecker's home run call.

No word yet on what the Harrelson clock says and we're awaiting a call back from the Sox PR department.

But in the meantime, we're guessing:

• This nap is o-vah!

• Stretch!

• The dreaded leadoff morning.

• You can put 'em on the floor...yes!

• Right place, wrong time.

Or maybe just....Mercy!
