CHICAGO — A woman hit two cars and a chain link fence during a car crash Tuesday morning in Auburn Gresham, police said.

At 7:19 a.m., the woman was driving near West 83rd and South Halsted streets when she crashed into a GMC SUV, police said. As the driver of the SUV got out to assess the damage, the woman drove away.

The woman drove several blocks to South Morgan Street, where she crashed into a Cadillac SUV, police said. The woman then crashed into a chain link fence and had to be removed from the car.

The woman, who was 64, was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in critical condition, police said. No one else was injured. Police originally said the woman had died.

The driver appeared to have had a medical emergency during the crash, police said.
