WICKER PARK — On Tuesday, Stan's Donuts will be switching its coffee from Intelligentsia to La Colombe.

To celebrate the new partnership, all six of the artisan doughnut chain's outposts will be offering a free small cup of La Colombe coffee with any doughnut buy, according to a sign in the window of the Wicker Park Stan's, 1560 N. Damen Ave.

Over this past weekend, Stan's Donuts owner Rich Labriola said the decision to switch the coffee supplier from Intelligentsia, which the doughnut shop has been selling since its first Chicago location opened in Wicker Park three years ago, was due to La Colombe's emphasis on draft lattes and cold brew.

"Mostly their work with the draft lattes and cold brew. And of course their quality. Also, they have a line of canned cold brew that is great," Labriola said.

Labriola said La Colombe has "been offering [Stan's] a lot of support in our quest to be a better coffee shop. He added, "I'll always be an Intelligentsia fan, but this was a great fit for us right now."

Currently there are four La Colombe shops in the city, including one just a few doors south of the Wicker park Stan's and six Stan's Donuts, including Lakeview, South Loop and Streeterville.

Labriola says he will be adding three more spots to the doughnut chain's list of locations this year.

A business development representative for La Colombe, who arranged the partnership with Stan's Donuts could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.
