PORTAGE PARK — U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley (D-5th) and Ald. John Arena (45th) are slated to speak at an open meeting of the Portage Park Neighborhood Association at Filament Theatre, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave., Monday evening.

Quigley will "give a brief update on national issues," and Arena will "give updates on development projects in the ward," according to an announcement.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Quigley represents a significant chunk of the city's North and Northwest sides, stretching from River West to O'Hare, in addition to some western suburbs.

The congressman was re-elected in November with more than 65 percent of the vote, earning a fifth term in office. He was first elevated to the 5th District seat in the House by a special election in 2009, after his predecessor, current Mayor Rahm Emanuel, was plucked to be President Barack Obama's chief of staff.

Re-elected in 2015, Arena is serving his second consecutive term as alderman of the 45th Ward, which includes parts of Portage Park, Jefferson Park and Old Irving Park.
