CHICAGO — Everick Lamont Dukes, 27, was killed and a 39-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in North Lawndale on Saturday morning, officials said.

At 8:05 a.m., the two men were standing in the 1100 block of South Francisco Avenue when someone got out of a black car and fired shots at them before getting back in the car and driving away, police said.

The 27-year-old man was hit in the head and chest, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Dukes, of suburban Elgin, was pronounced dead at 8:34 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 39-year-old man was hit in the back and was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody.

Both men were documented gang members, police said.
