CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was shot to death in Marquette Park Friday night, police said.

At 9:50 p.m., the man was driving eastbound in the 7200 block of South Washtenaw Avenue when a person in a white Ford Explorer traveling westbound fired shots as the vehicles passed each other at 72nd Street, police said.

The man was hit in the chest and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Devonta Spraggins, of the 7200 block of Talman Avenue, was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound to the chest in a homicide.

No one was in custody.

Spraggins was a documented gang member, police said.
