MONDAY —  This Monday, a Martin Luther King celebration in Wicker Park's namesake park will offer many ways to honor the slain civil rights activist and connect youths with influential leaders, politicians and police officers.

Set for 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, the Chicago Park District's "Stop The Violence" forum and sports competition will kick off with King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, followed by a dreamcatcher-making session, performances by the Jesse White Tumblers, Chicago Police Dept. recruitment and a "Teens vs. Adults" basketball tournament.

A panel discussion focused on how to stop violence will offer "varying perspectives," according to a flier.

Admission is free and all activities will take place in the park's field house, 1425 N. Damen Ave. For those driving, parking will be available behind Pritzker School, 2009 W. Schiller St.
