Brighton Park Shooting Kills David Gonzalez, Wounds 4 Others, Police Say

BRIGHTON PARK — An 18-year-old man was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in Brighton Park on Wednesday night, police said.

At 6:11 p.m., the five people were in the 3700 block of South Western Avenue when shots were fired, police said.

An 18-year-old man was hit in his head, police said. David Gonzalez, of the 4200 block of South Fairfield Avenue, was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

Another 18-year-old man was hit in his back and a 22-year-old man was shot in his face. They were taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A 25-year-old man was hit in his arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital. A 21-year-old man was hit in his finger and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. Their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

Gonzalez, the 25-year-old man and the 22-year-old man were documented gang members, a source said.

No one was in custody.
