SOUTH LOOP — The excitement over Barack Obama's farewell presidential address Tuesday in McCormick Place has naturally spawned scammers selling fake tickets, a leading business group warns.

Many scalpers have taken the free tickets distributed Saturday and listed them for hundreds or even thousands of dollars online. But some of those listings are for bogus tickets, the Better Business Bureau warned Monday.

"If you buy tickets to see Barack Obama's farewell address Tuesday evening in Chicago, you may be saying farewell to your hard-earned money instead of the president," Steve Bernas, the CEO and president of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois, said.

Throngs of people waited outside for hours on Saturday for a chance to see Obama deliver his final public speech as president Tuesday night in McCormick Place. Tickets were free, but many who waited left empty-handed.

One victim already took to Craigslist on Sunday to warn of Obama ticket scammers.

Obama's address is expected to begin around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
