I-57 Shooting Shut Down Rush Hour Traffic, But No Injuries Reported

WEST PULLMAN — A shooting on I-57 between 119th and 127th streets in West Pullman halted traffic for more than an hour Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred in the southbound lanes at 3:26 p.m., and the investigation took place during the evening rush hour beginning around 5 p.m., according to the Illinois State Police.

State troopers responded to the shooting, which shattered the glass of the vehicle. No one was injured, State Police said.

The shooter was observed with a black handgun and riding in a blue minivan with a license plate that begins with the letter "Q." The shooter is described as a black man in his mid-20s with dreadlocks, according to State Police.

The incident remains under investigation, and no further information is being released, State Police said late Thursday.
