CHICAGO — You might spot a familiar (furry) face in the Puppy Bowl this year.
Chicago will be represented by Foster, of Team Ruff, a 19-week-old Bernese mountain dog mix. He comes from One Tail at a Time, 2144 N. Wood St., a no-kill shelter.
Foster suffered from parvo — a potentially deadly virus — but he survived with the shelter's help, according to a post on One Tail at a Time's Facebook page.
"He trained hard, drove all the way to NYC and gave the competition all he had," the shelter wrote.
Another rep, Slippers, of Team Fluff, isn't technically from Chicago. This 17-week-old pomeranian/Havanese mix is still an Illinioisan, though, and she's is representing Help Save Pets, which has shelters in nearby suburbs.
This year's Puppy Bowl will air at 2 p.m. central Feb. 5 on Animal Planet.
Last year, Cooper, an adorable Great Pyrenees/collie mix, and Athena, an American bulldog mix, represented PAWS Chicago in the Puppy Bowl.
