DUNNING — The Northwest Chicago Historical Society will host a free lecture on the city's earliest days by historian and lecturer Joseph Geringer, the group announced.

Geringer, whose work includes both non-fiction and historical romance novels, "will explain how [settlers] lived, what they ate and how they enjoy themselves" with the aid of "old historic maps of Chicago," according to an announcement.

The presentation is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the New England Inn, 6959 W. Irving Park Road.

Attendees are asked to RSVP online.
