LAKEVIEW — Sunday would have been David Bowie's 70th birthday and fans of the rock icon will be marking the milestone as they usually do, celebrating at the "Bowie Ball" dance party.

Promoter Heaven Malone & Stardust's eighth "BOWIE BALL - David Bowie's Birthday," is set for 10 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday at Berlin Nightclub, 954 W. Belmont Ave.

Bowie died on January 10, 2016, just two days after turning 69 and after the release of his final studio album "Blackstar," which was listed as number two on Rolling Stones' list of the 50 most influential albums of 2016.

Party attendees are encouraged to "glam it up, dress like a dandy and let's love the alien with some glitter on top," according to a Facebook event page, which also promises live performance, glam makeovers, and "bowieoke" at midnight.

Malone said last year's Bowie Ball celebrated the release of "Blackstar," while the 2015 bash coincided with the end of “David Bowie Is”, the multimedia exhibition that had a run at the Museum of Contemporary Art starting in fall 2014.

The 2014 ball even caught the attention of David Bowie, who "tweeted and posted about our incredibly extravagant and packed partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art to announce their David Bowie Is exhibition," Malone said.

The Bowie Ball is limited to those 21 and older. For more info, visit bowieball.com.
