RANCH TRIANGLE — Police confirmed Tuesday that a pair of Grinchy thieves staged a robbery at Summer House Santa Monica, 1954 N. Halsted St., just after midnight on Christmas Eve.

According to Chicago Police, two men entered the restaurant through an open back door shortly after midnight Dec. 24. They approached two employees, and "one offender implied he had a weapon and demanded cash."

Police reported they made off with an unknown amount of cash and fled in an unknown direction. No one is in custody, although Area North detectives are investigating.

Police described the suspects as two African-American men, estimated between 25-30 years old and both about 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds.

The restaurant's normal hours are until 11 p.m. Fridays.

Summer House has thrived since its opening three years ago, and last year was voted best place to dine in the inaugural Lincoln Park Top 10 Awards.

Lettuce Entertain You, which owns the restaurant, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
