By Erica Demarest | January 3, 2017 7:18pm

CHICAGO — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver after an Austin pedestrian was killed early Monday.

The victim was walking in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue about 6:15 a.m. when the driver of a white mid-sized sedan slammed into her and continued heading eastbound without stopping, police said.

The woman, later identified as 52-year-old Annette Crosby of the 5400 block of West Iowa Street, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 9:02 a.m. Monday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy listed Crosby's cause of death as multiple injuries caused by an automobile striking a pedestrian.

The white sedan was last seen going east on Chicago Avenue away from Lorel Avenue, police said.
