9 New Year's Day Brunches: From Pajamas To Football Games, Bloody Mary Bars

CHICAGO —  Brunch options abound to start the new year, based on the many restaurants and bars that plan to be open Sunday morning following a night of revelry across the city.

Here are a few place to enjoy brunch this New Year's Day.

Don't Be Shy, Wear Your Pajamas

Those who dine in their pajamas at Stella Barra's family-friendly buffet (with offerings like scrambled eggs, charred tomato and cheddar cheese stratta, cinnamon rolls, etc.) will get a gift certificate equal to the price of their meal for a future visit. Cost is $19.99 before tax and tip. Reservations can be made at 773-634-4101. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1954 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park.

Nurse That Hangover Retro Style

Kitsch'n on Roscoe's 19th annual New Year's Day Hangover Brunch offers chilaquiles, fried chicken and waffles and more, along with a full bar, music, football games and door prizes for those who show up in pajamas. Ice packs are available for those truly suffering, too. Large parties can RSVP at 773-248-7372. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 2005 W. Roscoe St. in Roscoe Village.

Go Hearty

Fifolet, a new Cajun spot, will open earlier than usual to serve brunch, with Shrimp Creole Scramble, cornbread Johnny Cakes, "flight of bacon" with duck, pork and wild boar strips and more indulgences planned. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1942 W. Division St. in Wicker Park.

Watch College Football With A Side Of Pancakes

Fat Cat's annual "Champagne Bowl" combines lemon ricotta pancakes, crab benedict, and more brunch specialties with champagne punch, seven varieties of mimosas and more. The bar promises to show all College Football bowl games, too. Reservations accepted at 773-506-3100. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4840 N. Broadway Ave. in Uptown.

Cheer on The Saints Or Falcons

Frontier will feature champagne Jell-O shots and a champagne cocktail menu to augment salted caramel French toast, smoked boar hash, fried egg and Sriracha barbecue sauce and more brunch items from chef Brian Jupiter's menu. Plus, cheer on the New Orleans Saints or Atlanta Falcons at noon. Walk-ins welcome, but larger parties are encouraged to call 773-772-4322 for reservations. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 1072 N. Enjoy a Big Bloody Mary Bar

Be part of Old Town Social's inaugural New Year’s Day Pajama Brunch, and if you convince your entire group to show up in pajamas you'll get gift cards (in $25 increments) for future visits. Highlights include a 100 ingredient Bloody Mary bar ($10 to $26 depending on the vodka) and an expansive menu with biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and spinach salad on the lighter side. PBR Breakfast (Just Like Any Other Sunday)

Longman & Eagle will be offering its regular brunch menu (view highlights like PBR Breakfast, Duck Egg Hash and Cinnamon French Toast). From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 2657 N. Kedzie Ave. in Logan Square.

Enjoy BBQ Pork Fried Rice

Hot Chocolate's special New Year's Day brunch offers buttermilk pancakes topped with cider apples and caramel, a Reuben panini, char siu fried rice (bbq pork, peas, carrots, eggs, scallions) and more delicious dishes. Also on tap: Mindy Segal's signature hot chocolate made in eight varieties with housemade marshmallow. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1747 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown.

Continue Partying

For those still looking to celebrate, High Noon Saloon has got $10 "non-stop mimosas" or $15 bottomless Bloody Marys with any $8 or more food dish item. Plus, there are $4 Deschutes drafts; $3 Four Roses Bourbon shots and $3 Lunazul Tequila shots. From 11 a.m. to 2 p,m. 1560 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park.
