CHICAGO — A missing 16-year-old girl from South Chicago was found beaten to death in a garage in south suburban Markham on Christmas Eve.

She was identified as Desiree Robinson, of the 8500 block of South Manistee Avenue, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Desiree's body was found in a garage in the 16200 block of South Hamlin Avenue in Markham two days after her last contact with her family, according to CBS2.

She died from multiple injuries due to assault, and her death has been ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Desiree's grandfather, who had temporary custody of her, had reported her missing weeks before her body was found, according to CBS2.
