Miss These Chicago Christmas TV Classics? Check Out This Facebook Page

CHICAGO — Christmas is Mark Vitak's favorite time of year.

The Bridgeport native is the creator of a popular Facebook page "Chicago Christmas Classics," which showcases old-school Christmas shows like "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty The Snowman" that appeared on Chicago television stations.

Vitak, 51, started the page as a "Yahoo Group" about 10 years ago, moved it to Facebook in 2011 and has watched it boom into a 23,000-plus-member following in the years since.

"There are so many of us who grew up watching these videos over the years, and this gives us a single place to watch them," said Vitak, a Quigley South High School and University of Illinois at Chicago graduate who now lives in Florida.

Vitak said he receives numerous requests for certain shows, which he finds online.

"I believe that's appreciated by our members," Vitak said. "I appreciate being able to share this page with so many people. I love being able to make so many people happy, especially this time of year as I love the Christmas season and my memories of growing up in Chicago."
