Stephen Tucker, Derrick Jones Killed In Austin Shooting, Officials Say

CHICAGO — Stephen Tucker and Derrick Jones were shot to death in Austin on Friday night, officials said.

At 10:50 p.m., the men, 20 and 21, went outside in the 500 block of North Laramie Avenue after getting a phone call and someone fired shots at them, police said.

The 20-year-old was hit in his head and back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. Tucker, of the same block where he was killed, was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 21-year-old man was hit multiple times in his body and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Jones, of the same block where he was killed, was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m.

The men were documented gang members, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
