BRIDGEPORT — Police will be on the lookout for drunken drivers on the South Side this weekend.

Officers will conduct a DUI strike force patrol in the Deering District from 7 p.m. Friday-2 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police will saturate the district to find drivers who are drunk, speeding or not wearing their seat belts.

The Deering District encompasses 14 square miles and serves a number of South Side neighborhoods, including Armour Square, Bridgeport, Canaryville, McKinley Park and Back of the Yards.

A DUI strike force in the Chicago Lawn District on Dec. 16-17 led to 37 charges, including two drunken driving arrests, 15 unsafe vehicle violations and seven insurance violations. Two vehicles were towed.
