OLD TOWN — Ald. Brian Hopkins is seeking public feedback on a proposed 14-story, 365-unit high-rise set for what's commonly called Father and Son Plaza.

The alderman held a public meeting at Marcello's Restaurant, 635 W. North Ave., last Tuesday and is now seeking public feedback online.

The presentation laid out last week by FitzGerald Associates Architects calls for a 14-story building at 633 W. North Ave. It will have 365 apartments — studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms — and 30,000 square feet of retail space.

It would also boast rooftop gardens and a pool.

The project accounts for 188 car parking spaces and an equal number of spaces for bicycles, down slightly from the parking spaces that might otherwise be required as it would clearly qualify as a transit-oriented development due to its proximity to the Sedgwick and North & Clybourn CTA stations.

The proposal for a 350-unit high-rise was first floated last summer.

According to the alderman's office, it's a joint project of White Oak Realty Partners and the residential unit of CA Ventures.

The developers began the approval process last week, and it typically takes about 90 days for a project to pass through the Plan Commission and City Council for passage before construction can begin.
