LINCOLN PARK — Pocket Puppies Boutique suffered a break-in Sunday, but no dogs were stolen.

According to Chicago Police, officers responded to a burglar alarm at 10:48 p.m. Sunday at the shop, 2479 N. Clark St., known for selling "teacup and toy breeds." A lock box was missing and a undetermined amount of cash was taken, but no dogs.

Store staff declined additional comment on Tuesday. Police reported that owner Lane Boron met officers at the shop following the burglary Sunday.

Pocket Puppies has thus far survived a new city ordinance meant to curtail dog sales from so-called puppy mills. Boron has insisted he does not deal with puppy mills and only gets his dogs from reputable breeders.

Officers did not notice any signs of forced entry in the theft. According to the Department, "the case remains open with no new updates at this time."
