ASHBURN — Rosario's Italian Foods, a longtime Ashburn food market, plans to close at the end of year.

The closing was confirmed by Brandon Thompson, the manager of Rosario's.

The food market made the announcement on its Facebook page on Thursday:

"It is with bittersweet happiness that we announce our closing Rosario's Italian Foods at the end of this year after 61 wonderful years in business. Our family's love and passion have fueled this endeavor through four generations. It is with our deepest gratitude that we thank our loyal customers which have made all of this possible. This business has made our lives better in so many ways and we hope that in some small way it made our customers' lives better as well. Thank you and hope to see you before the 31st of December."

In 2013, Rosario's Italian Foods, located at 8611 S. Pulaski Road, was featured on the popular show "Chicago's Best."

The market sells fresh Italian sausage and roast beef made on site and sandwiches, among other items.

People came from as far away as Texas to stock up on items sold at the market.

"The food here is made with love," a longtime customer remarked in the video.

The store also is well known for its neon sign, which depicted pigs going into a grinder and coming out as sausages that spelled out the shop's name.
