Skating With Santa And Other Things To Do In Uptown, Andersonville

UPTOWN — It might be too cold to leave the neighborhood, but there's still some fun to be had this weekend.

Here is our list of things to do this weekend in Uptown and Andersonville

Roller Skate With Santa: Margate Park will host its annual roller skating with Santa event this weekend. Skates are provided from sizes 2-13 for those who do not have them. Price of admission includes popcorn, hot dog and a drink. $5. 6-7 p.m. Friday. Margate Park Fieldhouse, 4921 N. Marine Drive.

Holiday Shop Locally: Friday, the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce will hold its follow-up to Late Night Andersonville, Late-er Night Andersonville. The event features similar deals to Late Night Andersonville with 40 vendors — just later. Recommended Reading Night: Women and Children First bookstore will host its annual Recommended Reading Night Friday. During the event, Rebecca Makkai, Deborah Jian Lee, Emily Gray Tedrowe, Jasmine Sanders and Thea Goodman will discuss their favorite two books of the year. 7 p.m. Women and Children First bookstore, 5233 N. Clark St.

"The Other Cinderella" at Black Ensemble Theater: Billed as "the most popular" of the theater's productions, "The Other Cinderella" gives an Afro-centric to the popular fairy tale. The production, which is directed by Jackie Taylor and Rueben D. Echoles, is appropriate for all ages and features original music, dancing and a heartwarming story. Schedule: 8 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $50-$65. 4450 N. Clark St.

Grab Holiday Treats at Baker and Nosh: Baker and Nosh is selling holiday treats at its bakery at Wilson Avenue and Malden Street. Treats include mini gingerbread cakes ($10), gingerbread and peanut butter blossom cookies (3 for $2), Baker and Nosh mugs with chocolate dipped biscotti ($20) and nougat ($6).

"Jingle Belles: The Naughty List:" The fan-favorite holiday revue includes the Fan Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies, the Carol of the Boobs and the Mostly Naked Hurah. The evening will be hosted by Pixy with Giant Martini and features the Belmont Bombshells and special guests. 8 p.m. Friday. General Admission tickets are $20. Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway.

"Fa La Frickin La" at Uptown Underground: The irreverent holiday show features original lyrics and some little known holiday gems performed by cabaret artist Kevin Wood as he searches to find the true reason for the season. General Admission tickets are $20. 7 p.m. Sunday. Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway.
